Xavier University is a Jesuit Catholic university with the goal of providing a well-rounded, liberal arts education to its students. They provided the opportunity to travel abroad on Service Learning semesters. This provided students the opportunity to integrate academic study with the experience of service. Unfortunately this program is no longer running.

Mission Statement: Xavier’s mission is to educate each student intellectually, morally, and spiritually.

Our Connection:

Mission Grant. The Skees Family Foundation contributed a grant to the Ghana service learning trip in 2005. This year, the service focus of the program was working with developmentally disabled adults. While several Skeeses attended Xavier, we didn’t have the chance to do service learning in college–but hope that every young person today who wants to give back while learning about other cultures will find a way to make it happen.
