Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Lexington

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Lexington is an agency that works to help the residents of the Diocese of Lexington through empowerment and various forms of assistance. They offer many services to their community in order to accomplish their mission. Their Bridging the Gap program provides rent and utility assistance to low-income individuals and families. They offer a Clinical Counseling program to help with a variety of issues, including depression, personal growth, marriage, and grief. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Lexington is also a licensed adoption agency and offer a variety of adoption services. They have established a Pregnancy Services program to help pregnant women prepare for the birth of their child, and help with either parenting or adoption, depending on what the mother chooses. Finally, their agency has developed financial literacy classes and job preparedness assistance.

Mission Statement: The agency’s mission is to empower and assist the residents of the Diocese of Lexington to improve their quality of life.

 

Board Discretionary Grant. In 2005, 2009, and 2010, the Skees Family Foundation contributed to the disaster relief program created by this organization for families affected by Louisiana hurricanes. This program reflected the faith-based approach of two Skees members who felt deeply empathetic toward families debilitated by natural disasters.
