Description:

Wahat al-Salam–Neve Shalom, or Oasis of Peace, was founded in 1970 in order to create a community where coexistence and cohabitation was the priority. They wanted to create a safe place for both Jews and Arabs to live together. Since 1970, they have developed a community based on mutual acceptance, respect, and cooperation. They have projects and outreach programs for children, they give humanitarian aid to Palestinians living under occupation, and they even built a Peace Library.

Mission Statement: Their mission is to promote equality and understanding between Palestinians and Jews, through educational work.

Our Connection:

Board Discretionary Grant. The Skees Family Foundation began working with Wahat al-Salam–Neve Shalom in 2015 because we firmly believe that building a sustainable economic and peaceful environment can only come when conflict has been resolved. In this community, Jews and Arabs are learning to coexist and respect each other, and they are truly making a difference. We wanted to be a part of it!
