Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum

Address:

Hawaii,
United States

Description:

The Education Department of the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum is working to empower young girls and teach children about the importance of participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs. Their education programs engage and delight visitors of all ages through hands-on activities and authentic experiences at their historic location on Ford Island, and in schools across Hawaii. They are helping destroy the stigma of gender roles in these programs, and they are doing it in a fun, engaging way.

Mission Statement: The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum develops and maintains an internationally recognized aviation museum on Ford Island that educates young and old alike, honors aviators and their support personnel who defended freedom in the Pacific Region and preserves Pacific aviation history.

Our Connection:

Generational Grant. The third generation of the Skees Family Foundation decided to partner with the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum with a designation to the Education department in 2017. We felt that a huge change can be made internationally if we help get the ball rolling at home. With the scholarships that the Education department provides to low-income students for STEM programs and the empowerment of young girls that comes with them, we felt they were a great match for our mission.
